Our Clinic
Our Core Philosophy
At the heart of everything we do is a simple belief: A child thrives when their entire team — therapists, parents, caregivers — is empowered. We don’t just treat symptoms. We build a foundation for a lifetime of success.
A State-of-the Art Sensory Space Built for Breakthroughs
At The Children’s TLC, you’ll step into a therapeutic environment unlike any other in the Treasure Valley. Our 5,000 square foot center was impeccably designed by our founder, Kari Thompson, who used her dual expertise as a Developmental Specialist and Certified Interior Decorator to create a space where every detail, from the color palettes and murals to the custom-themed rooms, supports development.
While some therapy centers may feel clinical, The Children’s TLC is designed to feel like a second home. We’ve traded a sterile office space for a versatile, inviting environment where therapy and play are one and the same. We don’t believe in confining children to a chair. Our space is a Naturalistic Ecosystem designed to spark curiosity and build skills in real-time.
The Great Indoors (Sensory Integration Gym): Our therapy gym is the heart of our center. It’s where motor skills meet confidence!
- Climb and Conquer: Custom climbing structures, a rock wall, cargo nets, and more help build core strength and problem-solving skills.
- Balance and Flight: With a zipline, roller slide, monkey bars, and balance equipment, children learn to navigate their world with improved coordination and courage.
- Sensory Regulation: A trampoline, specialized tire structure, extreme roller coasters, ball and bean pits, and various swings provide the vital vestibular, proprioceptive, and tactile input many children need to feel regulated and ready to learn.
Creatively Designed Therapy Rooms: For times that require a quieter touch — like focused ABA, speech, feeding, or academic sessions — our private rooms are designed to be low stress and high-engagement.
The Outdoor Playground: Naturalistic means getting outside! Our outdoor space allows for fresh air and real-world social play and experiences, helping kids generalize their skills from the gym to the park or playground.
Hundreds of Therapeutic Toys: We don’t just have toys — we have tools! Every item in our center is hand-picked to support specific developmental milestones, while keeping the joy factor high.
A Family-Centered Design: Our space isn’t just for the kids. It is a space where parents can feel comfortable, welcomed, and part of the process.

The Whole-Child Perspective
At The Children’s TLC, we don’t just see a speech delay or a sensory need. We see a brave, wonderful little (or bigger) human with a world of potential. Every child has a unique story waiting to be told. Our OT, SLP, and ABA therapists work hand-in-hand in a constant circle of care, where a spark of joy in the speech becomes a high-five in the sensory gym. We make sure that every victory, even when seemingly small, follows your child throughout the center and home, wrapping them in support every step of the way.
Family as the Foundation
At The Children’s TLC, we believe in a Family-Centered Approach because we know that when parents feel confident, their children succeed:
- Empowerment: We provide families with the why and the how during or after their sessions, giving them simple, practical, and engaging strategies to use at home.
- Partnership: We view parents as the experts on their child; we are here to provide the clinical roadmap and a supportive hand.
- Heart-Centered Support: We meet every family with empathy, ensuring they feel seen, heard, celebrated, and supported.
The Same Team Roadmap
- The Listen and Learn: We meet with you to hear your story, your challenges, and your dreams for your child.
- The Play-Based Assessment: We observe your child in their natural element to see how they interact and communicate.
- The Collaborative Goal Setting: We sit down together to create a roadmap. You have the final say on what goals we prioritize.
- Naturalistic Intervention: We use a child-centered approach that helps skills generalize more easily in the real world.
- Family Guidance & Ongoing Support: We meet regularly with you to celebrate wins, troubleshoot hurdles, and adjust the plan as your child grows.
ABA Skills That Move With Your Child
- Functional Communication: Giving your child the voice (whether through words, signs, pictures, or technology) to express their needs, feelings, and brilliant ideas.
- Social Connections: Navigating the unwritten rules of play, sharing, and making friends in a way that feels authentic to them.
- Daily Rhythms: Building confidence in everyday routines — from getting dressed in the morning to trying new foods at the dinner table.
- Emotional Resilience: Helping children understand big feelings and providing them with calm-down tools that actually work for their unique sensory needs.
- Play and Exploration: Rediscovering the joy of play, fostering curiosity, and expanding interests.
