Our Heart: A Neuro-Affirming Philosophy
At The Children’s Therapy & Learning Center, we don’t just accept neurodiversity — we celebrate it! Being Neuro-Affirming means we recognize that your child’s brain is wired uniquely, and that uniqueness is a strength, not a deficit.
Our goal isn’t to make a neurodivergent child act typical. Instead, we focus on giving them the tools to thrive in a world that wasn’t always built for them, while honoring their authentic self.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does my child need a formal diagnosis to receive therapy?
No. For speech and occupational therapy, we can begin with a clinical evaluation based on your observations and concerns. For behavioral therapy (ABA), however, most insurance plans require a formal diagnosis such as Autism Spectrum Disorder to begin the evaluation process.
Do I need a doctor’s referral to get started?
In most cases, yes. While you can always reach out to us for a private-pay consultation, we do require a referral from your child’s pediatrician if you are planning to go through your insurance.
My child’s pediatrician told me to “wait and see” if my child grows out of it. What should I do?
While some children do catch up on their own, waiting and seeing can often result in losing valuable time during peak periods of brain development. A professional evaluation provides a baseline. If your child is on track, you gain peace of mind. If they are behind, you’ve already started the journey to getting them the help they deserve, and intervention can improve their everyday success.
How long are the therapy sessions?
Speech, occupational, and feeding therapy sessions are typically between 30 minutes and 60 minutes and focus on high-intensity skill-building. Because ABA focuses on behavioral patterns and social skills, sessions are typically longer, ranging from 2-4 hours or more. This allows time for the therapist to work with the child through transitions and across different activities like snack time, play, and structured learning.
